Thanks Collins. I'm aware I haven't used a torque wrench in my fixes I even mention it in one of the vids. I have a nice collection of torque wrenches (even a digital one) I just didn't think it was that important on this stuff. I adopted the technique from the Ducati service tech manual "tighten it up till it strips and then back it off half a turn" :P

    Cheers

The plenum panel is done and so is the transmission and transfer case service. I was under the pump so didn't get to film those.
Aww... as prosaic as it may be, I'm enjoying watching how these things are done. Gives me a little more confidence to have a crack myself.

Gld to see your d2 is now roadworthy. :-)

Apart from the tool set for this removal, that seems to have struck a chord with several, the best I take from this series is that a two post lift is only $2-3k. Brilliant!!

Shed is in planning stage, (3-5 year planning stage) but until now I would have never considered a lift in any conceivable form, so well done you, you have made my day!

    cheers

When I built this new shed I was determined to have a hoist in there. A friend has had one for years in his shed and I'd used it a few times. I reckon it was the handiest thing and made working on the car so much easier.

Check out the Garage Journal. Lots of great ideas on there for designing and building your workshop or Garagemahal. My shed build is on there if you want to check it out. An Aussie Barn Build - The Garage Journal Board

Keep us updated on your build.

The next vid is getting there. It was supposed to be about replacing the coils and leads. The Disco has been running rough and I though this was likely the problem given the number of threads on here about replacing the leads.

It would run OK at idle and just coasting along but stutter and stammer and run like s#it under load. New coils, leads and plugs didn't fix it... Bugger. So any thoughts of continuing making that vid kind of went out the window as I went into trouble shooting mode.

Eventually I found the issue. I'd had a bad O2 for a little while and been meaning to replace it or find out why it wasn't working. My investigations lead to the cat converter on the side with the bad O2. I pulled it out and had a look inside. It was pretty well clogged. I knocked the innards out and put it back in and it seemed to improve things. What was happening was the cat would flow enough for idle and low loads but once you loaded it up it just choked the motor and it made no power. Hence the stuttering and carrying on.

Rather than just replacing the cat and the O2 I decided to sort it out properly. I bought a set of headers, some high flow 200 cell cats, a 2.5" straight through glass pack muffler, a few flanges and some new O2 sensors. With bit of welding and fabricating I have a new exhaust system that works well. It's now running very sweetly.

So the next vid isn't going to be a how to but more a how I dun it.

    Cheers

For those that bought the Radum ball joint kit. Did you also need to modiy one of the sleaves like Michael did?

I notice Michael hasn't been around the forum since January. It's a shame, his videos are awesome.

    Happy Days.

I'm not sure if Radum kit is the best kit to get. Michael needed to make a couple of sleaves for the top ball joint.

    Good stuff mate.

By the look of your modified sleaves you just cut a side out of one and shortened another. I'm sweet with cutting a side out of one but I dont have access to a lath or the skill to shorten another. I'm hopping I could make do with a large socket.

Interesting, as I haven't done mine with the Radum kit yet.

I'll try and post up a few pics of the modified sleeves if you like.

    Cheers
