broken ABS modulator plunger springs - what to do....

    Hi
Pulled the ABS modulator to replace switches and the plug modification (switches tested faulty)
When removing one of the plungers, found the spring broken. the last 1.5 coils had broken off and just sitting there.

anybody else have this done to them??.

apart from buying another modulator any idea where I can get a replacement spring? or would it be ok to find a similar spring.

Does this spring do anything more then place pressure on the end cap to keep circlips in place?

At present I have re assembled the unit, stretching the current spring to give similar pressure, as I done have access to any shops at present.

    Cheers

I have no idea really, not having had 1 apart But I assume it has to be there as part of piston return? Stretching it will give temp use but given it is part of the braking system I would look at getting another for safety reasons. As it has broken it is at the end of its life as a spring anyway. Sorry I cannot be of more help than that.
    Cheers Scott

    Hi

I located a spring maker who made up two new springs in stainless to same specs. cost me $28. easiest and cheapest option.
