Question Disco Td5 still surging with WOT??!!

Ok. So she has 130k on the clock and is a '04 auto Disco. She started surging when putting the foot down to overtake/towing and so on.
I went and changed the Mass Air Flow meter and it improved performance but did not fix the surging.
I then changed the Turbo Boost Modulator, no change.
The Fuel Pressure Regulator had a small leak so I replaced it with a new part ($300 ouch) as it could be a source of the surging...still surging??!!
I also checked the actuator rod to the turbo and it moves freely so what is left to replace gentlemen?
I'd really like to get this sorted before my Chrissy run to Fraser.

I eagerly await your suggestions AND how to troubleshoot and fix
BTW I do all the work myself fwiw.

    Cheers

Have you checked if the wastegate actuator operates? It uses pressure to push the rod.

Yep sounds like overboost. How bad is the surge? Like a fuel cut kind of surge?

A quick squirt from an air hose will move it. As its operated by pressure from the turbo outlet which normally maxes at just over 20 psi, don't give it too much of a blast.

Yes it's pretty bad. I cuts back in and out like your messing around with the fuel throttle. How is overboost cured?

The ecm cuts fuel if it detects via the MAP sensor that boost pressure is too high. Failure of any component that normally limits boost will trigger fuel cut, which normally occurs around 2500 rpm on wider throttle openings.

So I put the trusty ARB compressor on the actuator and the pushrods seems to be moving just fine. In fact it doesn't take much pressuro to move it so it seems to be working fine?!
What's next? Diesel pump? (Dare I say that word?)

I'm in the process of doing a service now. I'll change the filters and hopefully that could be the fault.

    Fingers crossed.
