    Intermittent HVAC faults

    Hi all,

    Has anyone had their D2 TD5 HVAC control panel go blank, fan and A/C stop working briefly on roughish roads?

    Yesterday, a number of times I hit bumps in the road and the A/C and fan would briefly stop and then resume working after a short delay. I first became aware of this as the fan would go from the noisy full speed flow to the minimum, and then gradually build back up to full speed again then restart and repeat.

    Today, the HVAC control panel went entirely blank, the fan and A/C stopped after start up, and did not respond to me pressing "on" button. This was resolved after I hit another bump, and has not returned for about 30 mins worth of driving.

    Anyone had a similar experience? Could it be a loose fuse?

    Should I; A. panic, B. get an overdraft, or C. get a fire extinguisher, or D. all the above!?

    Have you done the diagnostic check? The process can be found on the Internet.
    I had a problem with mine which turned out to be the ac relay. You can swop the horn and ac relay located under the bonnet. This will cost you nothing.
    Failing that I have a spare control panel.

    Mine was the a/c relay points not contacting properly in the underbonnet fusebox. You might need to undo the fusebox, turn it over, crimp/tighten the receiving contacts and then re-insert the relay. Good luck

    Has anyone had their D2 TD5 HVAC control panel go blank
    This happened to me after replacing the globes in there

    You can remove the control fascia by sliding 2 bread & butter knives either side of the fascia (this pushes in the clips) & a bit of giggling

    unplug & unscrew the backing of the control unit, check the ribbons inside are clipped in properly, (this was my problem)
    If you have any blown display globes in there now is a good time to replace, got my tiny globes at JayCar.
    Sounds hard, but its fairly easy.

    Check relays & easy stuff first though

    As it turns out it was a loose fuse. The extra weight of a fuse double adapter (which runs my TM2 engine saver) must have dislodged it. I figured this out as the HVAC controls stopped as my TM2 went blank.
