Are the shocks the right length for the 2" lift?
Today was the first time I took my Disco 4wdriving since I bought it in April. I was at the sundown national park doing some very rocky tracks. Every now and then when the rear of the car would go up and then down a steep part, I would hear a banging noise from the rear left and sometimes the rear right. Just one bang then stopped.
It was if someone was banging underneath the car. Now my disco is a 99 model with TC and no CDL. I'm not sure if it's just the traction control doing it's thing or something else. I have a 2 inch lift with air bags SLS in the rear. It has never made these noises before so it had me a bit worried. I checked for any lose nuts on the shockers and they were fine.
Can someone tell me if this is normal or should I be looking elsewhere? It was definitely coming from the rear! I'm off to the springs 4x4 park tomorrow so I hope it's nothing serious :-(
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Chris

2003 D2a TD5, ACE, SLS, Vienna Green.
I had a clunk/bang in the back right of my D2 when the rear was articulating. Turned out to be the sway bar link. The rod end rattled when I got under it and gave a nudge.
I have had a couple of different clunks that have shown up off road.
First one was the watts linkage bushes were shot.
Second one was the bushes that wrap around the sway bars and connect to the chassis. On a model with ACE.
Third one (just this week) the link or tie rods that join the sway bats to the axle had gotten old and and the ball joints worn enough to be loose and clunk.
Regards
Will.
I have been doing some heavy towing and 4x4 with the tie rod clunk for 2 weeks.
Does your car have ACE?
Will
Sounds like mine recently with SLS in raised mode, the standard length shocks were topping out and clunking.
Watts Linkage bushes would also be my next check. Get someone to jump up and down on one side and stick you head under the back. You'll be able to tell if it's the watts bushes.
