Door seal bottom slits
The door seals on my side doors have two slits through the seal at the bottom.
Can anyone shed some light on it as I think it is bad for dust and water sealing??

They are bad for sealing. Fill them up with sikaflex. Your car will pressurise more adequately with fewer leaks and keep more dust out, especially from places not so easy to fix/seal like the rear door.

They are to let water and dust out of the seals. Without such slots the seals don't last very well.

Get some of the clear plastic tubing and fill with silastic as well as fill the door seal and push the rubber in. Joins the ends and fills the gap. Cover with glad wrap and leave door closed for a day or two.

The slits also allow for a bit of air movement when the door shuts.
Often in new vehicles the doors are hard to shut as the air pressure inside stops a full shut.
My work truck has to have the window down to allow for this.
It also stops the seals lifting in the corners.
Have a look at this older thread of what I did, it may help.
(sorry for the photo links but they work).

Finally got around to sealing my door seal slits.
Poked some foam into the seals and used windscreen silicone to seal it all up.
Now to wait for the silicone to go off...

I put new bits of door seal into my RRC and glued it to the door seal with Supaglue.
I then cut a couple of slits about half way up the door Jamb at the back somewhere around the lock and the door closes as per usual.
Same for D2.
You also have to be sure your plastic film on the inside of the door is fully sealed all around, as if any work is done on the window winders by dealers, they usually don't give a stuff about replacing the plastic film.
