    D2 front output shaft bearing

I have a bit of a drone from 50 to 80kph. I could be tyres but I suspect the transfer box. I have replaced the front drive shaft and hubs with no improvement. The front bearing replacement sounds fairly straight forward so I thought I might try that before the whole transfer box. Problem is that I have read one site that the bearing can be simply hooked out and another that says the shaft and bearing must be slide hammered out together. Then it says ensure that the CDL is engaged. Mine is a 2002 TD5 auto with no CDL. Any definitive answer on how to remove the bearing? I would be quite happy with an excuse to buy a slide hammer as I have been hankering after one for 40 years!

Hi Bilbo, you should have a CDL on the top of the transfer, you'll need a 10mm open ended spanner. Climb underneath drivers side and feel your way up the casing where the activater is located. They still had the CDL , but did not have them cable activated.
    Cheers, Mario
