    Anyone tried magnecor 8.5mm leads?

    Hi all,

Over here (the Middle East..) in Summer we have months on end of near 50deg days.

On an 04 / V8, due to the age of the existing ones and the heat issue, I'm thinking of replacing all the leads with a set of 8.5mm magnecore. Anyone know if they fit ok?

I know they won't fit the existing looms. If I get new ones do they just stick on the rocker cover?

Also, where's the best / cheapest place to get them from? Off Ebay or grab some next trip I'm back in Adelaide?

    Thanks.

There's this myth that thicker leads are better than thinner leads but its exactly that, a myth. The most reliable OEM leads I meet in my work are the genuine Toyota 5mm leads. If you want Magnecor leads, try on ebay from the UK, such as this set:

Magnecor 7mm Ignition HT Leads Wire Cable Land Rover Discovery SER 2 4 0i 'Thor | eBay

    or this

Magnecor 8mm Ignition HT Leads Wires Cable Land Rover Discovery S2 4 0i Thor | eBay

I had Magnacore 7MM (AFAIK) , standard size anyway for about 12 years in my 3.9 RRC with no problems.

The only issue I had is that the plug push ons were very tight and I had to use pliers to remove or the end could be pulled off, although this will depend on who builds them as sellers AFAIK buy the bulk rolls and finish them themselves.
They went every where including hot areas, and were still great after 12 years.
