    No Instrument Illumination

Drove the Disco tonight only to find no dash illumination. Checked and found a blown fuse.

Put in a new fuse and it blew instantly as soon as I turned the lights on.

Has any one else had this problem? Are there any known causes for this?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Had a similar problem a week before Xmas.

I had towed my trailer that is left out in the weather to the mates place, in the arvo returning that nite put the lights on and snap the fuse blows no instrument lights.

Replaced the fuse 2x as the blew again straight away before I gave up as it wasnt far to home.

Searched high and low for the problem and found once I had disconected the trailer the trailer plug was full of mud water from trip.

I sprayed the trailer plug/car end and cleaned it up with some CRC elec cleaner, no more blown fuses.

I hadnt driven the car of a nite time for a week or so it was good of a day but the crap in it (not that it looked bad) must have caused the fuses to blow for me when the extra current was going to the rear.

Certainly worth a look but my Disco has not seen any mud or dirt since I have owned it.

If it's instantly blowing fuses wouldn't that indicate a short somewhere?
I kept blowing indicator fuses when one of the contact strips in my housing corroded.
Bit different if it's inside I guess, although it is a Land Rover

Not seen any mud or dirt? What sort of 4wd owner are you? Driving a Landrover and not getting it muddy! letting the side down or what?

I was wondering how long it would take. I have a D1 for this(see avatar) and the D2 will see dirt, just haven't had time to get it dirt ready.

I have a brand new 2 inch lift kit which has been sitting in the shed for about two months now.

Yep that is the problem. Trying to find it is why I have posted here, to see if any one else has had the same problem.

The first thing to look at is to check your park lamps work on both sides.
The other give away is the radio/heater lights wont light either.
If no parkers check your fuses.
If they keep blowing I'd be checking the trailor plug if fitted for loose wires(shorting).

    Somewhere to start, perhaps
Unless of course you have seen that thread, in that case, my double bad
