Tom Woods prop shaft available in Perth?

    Hi all,

My prop shaft is cactus and I've decided to replace with a Tom Woods one.

Anywhere in Perth I can get one, or will I have to ship it across from Melbourne?

    Thanks.

I always buy direct from Tom Woods. The longest it has ever taken is a week from the time that I first contacted them to when I have received it from the USA. They're pretty efficient and you can measure up your vehicle and they'll make it specifically for no change in cost.

Thanks, yeah I would rather buy direct also but will be leaving on Wednesday night. Might have worked if I'd ordered it last week...

It may still be a problem getting one from Melbourne by then.

Any idea how much he charges for a D2 one (double cardan), vs the current price from Melbourne?

Just looked up my invoice and it was a lot more expensive than I remembered:

    $579.00 USD for the shaft
    $5.00 packaging fee
    $180.00 international freight.
    Total - $764.00.

That was in late 2012 though and I recall the Australian dollar being stronger than the US at the time.

The rear I only paid $599.00 total delivered mid last year - also double cardan.

Yep, freight is the killer. I'll call a friend in the US to see if they can't bring one back for me. What do you think the weight is for the front shaft - 15kgs? At approx 60cms it should fit inside a suitcase...

I might also call Melbourne in the morning to check the local price.

    Thanks.

The package my rear shaft came in was 100 x 10 x 10cm. But there was a lot of packaging inside the box. Around 15kgs is about right for the weight.

Tom Woods prop shaft available in Perth?

In the end I got it from Melbourne.
Normal postage I think is $25, but I had to get it overnight to Perth with express post @ $100, And it arrived a day late anyway! - lucky I was still there to receive it. (Waiting now for an Aus post refund)

Very happy with the prop shaft - all the noise / vibration I had before is now gone.
