    Koni Heavy Track RAID settings

    Hi there,

Have just received a set of Koni RAID shocks for the D2a in anticipation of an outback tour later this year.

They have a level of adjustability. Previous reading has indicated this is either to account for wear over the years and/or to allow for individual tuning. KONI's FAQ says to start with zero 'additional' and go from there but given it's a PITA to take out the front shocks to do the adjustment, I'm hoping someone has done something similar.

Wondering if anyone knows what the best initial settings for the shocks would be? Zero, 180, 360, 540, 720 deg?

My truck has the standard 255/55R18 tyre/wheel setup, standard front springs, SLS, ACE, completely stock front and rear ends (as per my avatar) and will be running at/about max GVM.

I tend to drive pretty quick on and off road, without being reckless.

I'd start with the manufacturers recommendation - one would think that they are pretty familiar with the product and in a good position to make such a recommendation...

Given that vehicles are different (through manufacturing tolerances, wear and tear and modifications) and people have different preferences what works for one person isn't necessarily going to be best for you.

I installed my non-raid heavy tracks at zero adjustment and they were fine for a 9 month lap. We were a fair bit less than GVM. The ride was supple and not firm.

But since the raids are significantly bigger I would either leave at zero or if you like a firmer ride 180 deg. Note that the adjustment is only for rebound dampening, not bump dampening.

Before my next trip I plan to have mine rebuilt as they are noticeably softer on bump dampening now after ~90,000 km.

    Cheers
