    Sluggish 2003 td5

Just brought my 2003 td5 , it seems slow to get going . Is the answer put an after market exhaust on ? If so what should I be looking at doing ?
    Thanks guys

No. Changing the exhaust with a standard TD5 will not change performance much at all.

Buy the RAVE CD from the online shop here and have a good read to start getting to know your vehicle. Properly maintained the standard TD5 has good performance and economy.

First thing I would do would be to check the wastegate adjustment:

You can do this with just a 10mm open end spanner.

Get onto Jose and ask him to do a map for you
    You will not be disappointed
You really need a larger intercooler in the heat though.

Sluggish as in there's a problem or just slow? Wouldn't it be wise to get it all checked out before dropping an aftermarket exhaust, winding the actuator up or a remap??!!

I would say mine is sluggish also, but I am pretty certain its normal. Put the foot hard to the floor and it takes off pretty quick though.

Hehe I'll try that on the way to work tonight . Been reading through threads all last night . I'll try the removal kit for the ERG and take the cat off and replace with a straight pipe . Have you guys done this ? Has it made a difference ? Or not recommended ?

    Hi,

I have similar problem like you with my D2a, I guess after couple month you sort of getting used to it.

Recently I change my turbo hoses to silicon, it definitely make a slight different but I do have my EGR remove. Like most of the people said, probably is worth while to know the car better first before attempting to do any mod.

A nanocom unit will be good to check the car but I do recommend start with things that you can do it yourself, best of luck.

Make a good clean of the IAT/MAP sensor, if it is not clean, and test.

I removed the cat and center box. Probably gained 10-15% power. The Cat is only good for so many km's then it chokes. Nice growl now.

If anyone tells you the Exhaust mod won't make much difference...ask if they changed it. If not, disregard the comment.

    Pm me if you want.

    Cheers
