Or crash. Its the inertia switch.

It can "pop" up in small impacts in car parks. Either cutting the engine if you hit something, or causing the car to fail to start if someone hits you! Just press it down if it is activated.

That is the inertia fuel cut off switch. Located on the engine compartment bulkhead, in the event of a collision, the switch cuts electrical power to the fuel pump. To reset the switch, depress the top of the switch, Bob

There have been a few cases where this switch has tripped while off roading too.
This is often accompanied by the hazard lights flashing.
Usually the vehicle has stoped quickly after finding a rut or rock that doesn't move.

As said- Turn key off, press switch = Disco should start.

its the fun stop switch while working under the bonnet i bumped it and learn't all about it. as reply above TURN OFF IGNITION, take time to walk around to passenger side then push down to reset mine started fine at this point but i'm now careful whenever fiddling on that side of engine bay
