As the title reads...
If there is someone with a Nanocom near Emerald I'd like to have a chat...
Hi i live in rockhampton and have a hawkeye. If that helps.
Also in Rockhampton, have a nanocom.
Not at all, I have only owned it a week. I have downloaded my map from my ECU, and I can imagine its pretty much the same except you click upload instead of download.
In theory that is pretty much it, except you add the frisson of potentially rendering the ECU unusable if it all goes pear shaped.
TBH I would not offer to do map uploads for anyone unless they had a spare ECU with them or you have the means to recover the ECU to a working state.
It might seem simple but there are very real risks involved. I've personally recovered ECU's for 5 or 6 members and my own ECU 3 times after failed Nanocom map uploads.
If you are going to attempt map uploads make sure:
- you have at least v1.12 firmware installed
- you reformat the sdcard with SDFormatter with the "Format Size Adjustment" option "On"
Once you've done that open the Map file in Td5 Map Editor and "save as" to the freshly reformatted sdcard. This forces the file to be written as contiguous data to the sdcard.
That gives you the best possible chance of getting a clean read from the card. Sometimes even that is not enough and you will struggle to get the .map to verify, let alone program the ECU with it.
cheers
Paul
Excellent advise, I do a fair bit of firmware downloading/uploading at work so I am aware at how small of an issue can ruin a job/day.
I wouldn't ever take on the responsibility of uploading a map onto someone else's ecu, although I would be happy to be there and lend my nanocom if they wished to use it. Then maybe even give them a lift to the bus stop if they mess it up. :P
better that you approach with caution rather than jumping in thinking it's all fluffy bunnies and smiley faces then having to face the reality of a bricked ECU. The Nanocom documentation does stress that you need to be careful due to the risk involved.
A number of tuners reckon the old Nanocom One is far more reliable than the current Evo's for uploading maps.
Thanx heaps for that...something to consider.
...another brick in the wall...
