Thanks for the positive response Bee Utey 😄... I'm aware of the heater hoses going through the firewall but my question is about the small hose below that looks like a breather hose.

I have the car booked into a LR garage for Friday.

    Thanks everyone for assisting.

I don't have my car here att, getting torque converter looked at, but the hose in the photo could be a breather for the bell housing and the reddish substance on the firewall may actually be from atf vapour.

Well on my wrecked D2 the heater hose fits on to an aluminium pipe that looks heavily corroded, coolant from there would then drip quietly onto your mystery breather hose and also leave a trail down the firewall like in your picture. If coolant actually leaked out of a breather I'd say it's a miracle the engine ran at all.

I appreciate the help and do get your theory Bee Utey. Initially when I checked, it was dripping from the small hose below the heater hoses. Tomorrow morning I'm going to put a cloth under the heater hoses check for any leaks.

    Thanks

There is a small Welch plug on the rear of the heads, possible dribble coming from it?? Mine has a leak from one
Try a mirror to see behind or a boroscope

    Heater Hose leak

Mine was a leak from the heater pipes in that position.
Heavily corroded, I have bypassed them temporarily for the last 12 months
I was going to cut the pipes off inside the car to get to good metal and run hose through the bulkhead. Pig of a job for a man with a bad back so has been ignored till it gets cool again.
