    Disco S2a Manual or Auto

    Hi All
I am considering a 2003 S2a disco and would like to know if I should go manual or auto, as I had a S1 Tdi disco and asked the same question and was told to go auto.
Is this the same for S2 disco, as I would prefer a manual?
    Thanks

TD5 or V8? I can vouch for the auto in my TD5, it works well and easier/lazier in Sydney traffic than a manual for sure, and more than capable off road too.
But if you want a manual get a manual, in some situations I'm sure they are better than auto

If you prefer a manual, then that's the answer isn't it? That being said, I went auto, as its better around town and I believe off road, as you don't need to worry about what gear you need to be in etc.

The TD5 with the manual suffers down low towing, especially with higher profile tyres.Once she is moving great.I do enjoy swapping the gears myself, mine is a manual. If I had my time over an auto for sure.

    PS,good luck finding a manual.They are rare,especially in the later 2a version.

Get whatever you are happier with, mine is manual still goes everywhere an auto goes, and my left knee is healthier.

I bought a Td5 manual (2003), test drove an auto and didn't like it. But I have never owned an auto so I'm probably manual bias.

I'll agree with Landyandy about initial take off with oversized tyres, I will be swapping to different diff ratios when time & money allow, this will sort that problem out.

But it all comes down to personal choice/preferance.

I asked the same question a couple of years ago before I bought Charlie.

I'm happy with the auto which is a nice match to the Td5 but there's not a lot in it.

    Cheers

Thank you all for the replies.
Yes it will be a TD5 and the only reason I ask is that I am sceptic of not knowing what it has been towing and the service history of the auto.
