    D2 V8 BRAKE BLEED

    Hi everybody.
    After recently going through and replacing all the oils on my 99 d2 I want to replace the brake fluid as well.Ive been through some of the past posts regarding this job and people seem to have no problem.Is there a special technique for landrovers that I am missing.
    I tried loosening the nipple and the only flow I could get was coming out through the threads.I know the nipple might be blocked but am dubious about removing to check and cause myself more air issues.
    Should it be like bleeding a normal car setup, or are their any tricks to use.

    it should be like a normal car so the nipple may be blocked.

    Sounds like your nipples blocked

    Borrow a Nanocom and do a power bleed, makes it a one person job, and very easy.

    I do have one of the one man bleed units so I'll see how it goes.

    If you think the bleeder nipple is blocked remove it. You will not create any air issues. If fluid flows while the nipple is out you have started the flush process.

    To clean nipple I use a drill bit and compressed air.

    I have bled many a car just using gravity. It works for some cars but not all.

    You can bleed a Disco the same as a car with one person pumping then holding the pedal, while you open the nipple.

    However, I believe this only flushes the pipes and does not rid the fluid from ABS pump. A nanocom is needed here.

    What I do before I start is remove all the old fluid from the reservoir. I have purchased a cheap battery hydrometer and turfed the float. It then makes a good syringe to draw out the old fluid.

    Or go to the doctor or vet and ask for a syringe. I use a 60 ml with a drip line on the end. Only down side with the 60 ml is it has about 500 ml in the reservoir so a bigger syringe would be better. (worst case is a bout $6, free if they are a mate. Also, typically hospital equipment has an expiration date so they have to throw it out).

    d2 brake bleed.

    Thanks to all the replies and offers of help.
    I ended up having to go into work yesterday so the job was finished this morning.
    2 of the nipples were blocked.I will make sure they all have the rubber covers on them from now on.
    I did suck out most of the reservoir fluid just to make it quicker.
    Went for a drive this morning and all seems good.
