interesting about the incoming air--
I get a long term fuel balance of 14.8(bank 1 ) and 16.4

just need to figure out where--
Getting back to this, I swapped the O2 sensors back to the original ones (unknown condition but functioning w/out faults before replacement which was only based on age). All sensor faults gone and the figures for the sensors are more balanced (still not exactly the same but a LOT closer).
Also I fount the plastic intake tube where it joins the throttle body (after MAF) was loose and not all the fixings for attached stuff were in place so everything moved and it basically was sucking unmetered air in.
So now idle can still be rough when it's idling at around 600-640rpm, hen it decides to idle at 800 it's smooth. All round seems to be smoother driving and hasn't lost the additional poke from the new cam. Just finished the last fill with the "old" setup and just started running a new tank to compare km.

Well found the source of the lumpy idle and possibly the fuel consumption. The CKP sensor was bent to about 45deg, so sitting outside the groove in the flex plate. Was still showing enough of a valid signal (god knows how) to run for almost 2 years until it recently started the classic hot no start symptoms. Of course I chased all the other faults it listed and didn't follow the head. But at least I have spare IACV and TPS now.
How do you bend a crank sensor?![]()

Put the flex plate stack with all the spacers etc in the wrong order. Despite having a copy of the rave pages AND the parts book showing the assy order (I find parts books just as useful as the manual for working on the things) AND a written instruction from Ashcroft on what the heights shoul;d be (4HP22 v 24) AND written details from me detailing all the same.
And this was the "specialist". At least they put the right amount of oil in it which led to the initial drama in the first place.
