E Bay Temp controller and buzzer

    Quote
The sensor has been fixed to the area right were the temp sensor goes. Photo shows how I did it. I used a small clip drilled slightly to clamp it in place it makes perfect contact with engine.

What is the best place to locate the sensor on a 300 TDI? I was thinking of putting it in through the plastic plug on top of the thermos housing so that it was in the water just prior to the thermos. Will it still work there if the water gets low and does not touch the sensor?

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

The photos are in the thread I linked to back in post #40. Part of Peter's post was an incomplete quote of my post.

    Temp sensor location

Yes I have seen the photos of a couple of placements of the sensor but am interested in locating it into the water jacket some where. Would not the location on the outside of the engine be effected by outside extream weather conditions and also dependent on surface contact with the engine effecting heat transfer. If I do locate it into the water jacket and the water is low(no contact with the sesor) will it still give an acurate reading of the engine temerature?

Hi Wedgetail37 I had a simalar problem, though I think I connected something wrong and nothing worked so at the price I purchased another and followed instructions down loaded from Google and the new one works fine. What I would like to do though is place the sensor into the water jacket on the 300TDI, maybe through the plastic plug on the top of the thermostate. Just having contact with the surface of the head I feel it could be effected by the extream weather conditions blowing on to the sensor. I also wonder if there was a lack of water in the system would it still record the temp with out water contact on it. Maybe some one can advise, thankyou.

Does anyone know where the D2 ECM gets its temps from?

I have two of them sitting there waiting to be fitted to the old Rangie .... Hopefully I'll get to it in the couple of weeks at some point.

I can unpack and test them if you like without actually mounting them in the car just yet.
