Do you stop for broken Discos at the roaside?

Well after over four years of champion service my Disco finally ended up on a tow truck on Sunday arvie just gone.
Happily driving along on the old back roads from Southern Highlands towards Picton when I lost drive with a slipping clutch feel in my Auto TD5 .
Coasted over to the side of the road and a peak under the front showed copious amounts of Auto fluid everywhere. I suspected the oil cooler hose had given up. Phoned NRMA and began the process of recovery back to Sydney, but the best thing that happened three times was that other Disco drivers pulled over to see if I was OK, offer a lift into town, use of a phone if I needed it, and even a cup of tea. How awesome

I think Mrs Bear was quite surprised by time the third one stopped and is beginning to realise there is more to Land Rover ownership than just being eccentric and that there is a bit of brand comaraderie and mateship out there that you might not get driving something else

So if Les in the white TD5 D2A, or the family in the green 300tdi or the early white Disco are reading this my heartfelt thanks that you pulled over to offer help in our predicament.

All fixed now, both oil cooler hoses replaced and transmission unaffected (phew), happy days, again

I do when I can... But usually at the roadside, not the "roaside".

I surprised one bloke one day when I pulled up and had a workshop manual for his model LR on my laptop.

The last time I stopped for a fellow land rover was for a D1 in a ditch. The driver was absolutely blind drunk, I offered to phone a cab for him cause I was not going to help this guy get back on the road. He just refused and wanted me to tow him out. It was 7:30 in the morning FFS. In the end I left him there.

I stopped one night for Disco sitting on the side of the road. He had a flat tyre so I helped him jack it up, while he removed the flat I got his spare off. I gave him the spare and as he put it on I put the flat tyre back on the back. We let the car off the jack, packed everything away and he just got in and drove away. No thank you...nothing.
    I was a bit disappointed.
