    My compressor gets rediculously hot under the bonnet.

    There is an always on unused power cable behind the drivers taillight

    and the aforementioned spot will be very dusty

    That's where mine is. I ran power up from the Anderson plug that I fitted to the back of the car for our camper trailer. With the cover on, you'd never know it was there.
