Mate, I wouldn't drive that to the end of the street! But that's just me...
How long do you think this will hold on?
TD5 Discovery 2 Harmonic Balancer Failure - YouTube
I initially thought I had a noisy tappet on an injector, a broken hydraulic lifter or something about to let go in the bottom end.
The noise was there at idle all the way to 100 kph on the highway, hot or cold, it would occasionally quieten, I attempted to listen with a long screwdriver stethoscope but i couldn't locate the noise, I finally removed the serpentine belt and the noise stopped, all the pulleys seemed ok, but I was surprised at the play in the harmonic balancer. I know I'm going to have to replace it soon but how bad do they have to be before they remove themselves in a bad way?
Cheers
Marc

It's not just you Davetd5, no way would I run that engine having seen the movement on the HB![]()
Replace sooner than later,if it lets go bigger cost than replacement.
suggest genuine only.

Cheers Scott
