D2 Radiator story conclusion
A few weeks ago I sought advice on how to set up the heat exchangers at the front of the D2 to reduce the problem of spinifex blocking the air flow.
The AC condenser at the front had borne the brunt and the fins were flattened. All four radiators were clogged with spinifex and red mud like a wattle and daub hut (despite aggressive cleaning at home with the Karcher, and at Car Lovers) Very little air was getting through, and the car had been overheating on the last trip.
I took everything apart and cleaned each component and the engine bay. I realised I needed a new condenser. I looked at importing - 165 pounds plus freight. I rang a local supplier _$600 plus freight. I spoke to my local Natrad man- $400 plus $30 for a new drier/receiver cylinder.
I picked the vehicle up this morning. What a pleasure it is to get affordable excellent service in a country town, Echuca.
I took the opportunity to ditch all the EGR gear and fit new blue hoses to the intercooler. My next task is to make a screen that will keep spinifex seeds out while letting air through.
