Have you checked the operation and sealing of the IAC that bypasses the throttle body to control idle. I snapped the plastic at one end which caused an air leak and stalling as you describe.
Hi all,
I just purchased a 2000 V8 auto D2 with a blown head gasket, it was a non runner so it was a bit of an unknown, but the price was right considering it only had 110k kms on it.
I fitted the new head gaskets and had the heads resurfaced and got it all back together and it started no problem. It runs smooth, but when it drops back to idle it drops all the way back and stalls.
Not sure if I missed something, or if it is something simple. Tacho doesn't work either but I figure that is unrelated and will check that after. I have checked vacuum hoses and they seem fine.
Any suggestions?
Regards,
Neale

Like rangeyrover said, check for air leaks, try using brake cleaner to assist where the leak is.
Thanks guys, I looked for obvious leaks and picked up some carny cleaner. Given I was laying across the engine half the time I will be surprised if I didn't break anything.
First time working on the Disco so I am just impressed it started.
Ok, I should change my name to Wally. I had the IAC plug into the coil pack, and nothing in the IAC. Thanks to my wife's small hands I have them plugged around the correct way.
Now it idles, I have a tachometer and no warning lights up on the dash!
Thank you for the suggestions to get me into looking in the right spot.
Neale
