It wont, without replacing the front output flange on the Transfer with the D1 unit aaaand I wouldn't anyway without the DC joint.

As far i knew it was possible to fit the D2 front shaft to a RRC or D1 if you changed the output connection on the TC. This is a common mod to get the double DC joint for RRC and D1 with lots of lift. Therefore can see no reason with the opposite mods it could not be done the other way.

Its a "downgrade" fitment which will contribute to induced vibrations on the D2 especially if it has a lift.
There is also the possibility of binding yokes and then damaging the TC housing, shaft etc, which could cause a fail on the track at best, or worst, at speed on the highway.

Changing an output flange to fit an older D1 or Defer shaft is a bucket load cheaper than replacing or upgrading the DC shaft on a D2. However, workshops either recommend and fit an upgraded DC shaft or at least retaining the DC with greaseable unis.

If its a farm rig then I wouldn't care, but IMO if you need to change a part out, make sure its as good or better than what was there in the first place. Ignoring LR decision to not fit greaseable unis, the DC shaft is a better unit.

ok I am thinking of upgrade options

I have quoted $550 fro a rebuild with handy spicer parts with grease able.
or PUMA Front Heavy Duty Prop shaft complete new shaft for $795.

I run 32 in muddies and have a 2 inch lift and a HD torque converter.

Strangy what would be your advice on that?

From the sounds of your set up, I would check out a Tom Woods shaft from the US.
There a few guys here running them and very happy.
There was a guy on eBay a few weeks ago with brand new Tom Woods shaft going cheap. I'll look back and see if he still has it.
If the shaft condition (apart from the unis) was uncertain, I would be going a Tom Woods shaft.

A correctly rebuilt std shaft with greaseable unis will be fine, it is important that the yoke ears havnt been damaged from the old unis giving up.
If you go rebuilt ensure the Uni is actually HD not just greaseable.

K5-A757 is the correct HD greaseable uni with 18mm trunion (same size as from factory)
There are smaller trunion joints K5-L4R. Both these part numbers are Hardy Spicer.
These have a 16mm trunion and are often supplied as replacements because they are cheap compared to the correct units.
Many suppliers are mistakenly selling the Hardy Spicer and the GKN smaller joint as the original or HD item.
