average between fills 750ks and 78-80l cruise and air on depends on traffic and right foot average 105kph auto in drive
low fuel light usually comes on at 700k most ever put in was 85l
180k a day country victoria

I get about 9 to 10l per 100ks fill around 850ks mines a manual.

Thanks everyone for your replies, my D2 is an auto TD5 and at the moment only doing trips in Sydney from cronulla to kings cross daily and my frustration with dick head drivers really blows out my fuel economy

I go a long way most of the time but a little bit less if I drive hard then a lot less with the roof top tent on but I went surprisingly long way on a trip back from Brisbane towing a trailer.

You clowns and your KM per tank. It means nothing.

Even this is pretty useless without knowing my setup, if I'm towing, if I have roof racks, it all changes things.

No. This thread is on diesel engines - TD5.

I am not set up for economy. As pointed out above by joel0407 what is on the vehicle/in the vehicle and being pulled by the vehicle are directly relevant to fuel economy. Here is my setup:

That I may be but, it's nice to know which town you can rely on getting to, to fill up.
The last 10,000K have averaged 15.87 litres per 100K, worst was 21.5 best was 12.6, 12.6 around town 21.5 towing a 22' caravan.
I get around 600 with the van on, over a thousand without, but I also have gas on board, diesel & gas.
I have never done anything to tune the old girl and it has 440,000K on the clock, I keep the filters and oil up to scratch, maybe I should find a dyno and get things checked out.
I have just fitted a trick torque convertor but that doesn't seem to have changed anything fuel wise.

Knowing I have a 90L fuel tank, I'd rather know the L/100km. That way it doesn't matter what the gauge says, you'll know if you can make it or not.

Recently while on my way back to Drysdale from Mitchell Falls. I had done a bit more running around than planned due to going back to help mates. I thought I'd be running it fine but one of those mates had a 20L jerry that he didn't need himself. I took him up on the offer of his Jerry even though I had calculated that I'd make it easy. I took him up on the offer because my fuel light had been on for over 100km and I had more than 100km to go. When I finally got to Drysdale, I only needed 65L meaning I would have made it with 5L left.

Before anyone jumps on and says it's bad to run your fuel low, have a search of previous debates about the fuel cooler. You'll find the even within 15 minutes of fueling up the fuel is heated by the fuel cooler to about 70 degrees. So the fuel in the tank keeping the pump cool idea isn't really relevant. Also the idea that you'd be sucking the rubbish from the bottom of the tank, well I don't see if the rubbish isn't being lifted by the movement during normal driving then I cant see it lifting just due to low fuel.

L/100, MPG, Km/l what ever, they're all a whole lot more useful than Km/per tank. Ever fuel gauge will be a little bit different and everybody will test it's limits differently.
