I had an Aldi winch and a TJM bullbar on my D1, and had it positioned exactly as you have it shown in the last picture.
After the good wrap Aldi winches were getting I saw one at the local Aldis and purchased it. The control box is supposed to be mounted on top of the winch top brace bars, ideal if you have room above the winch.
I have a TJM bar that has a winch cradle, fitting the winch to the cradle doesn't allow room for or access to the controller so the controller needs to be remounted somewhere else.
Any ideas, there is no room in under the bonnet. I thought of making a bracket for above the bumper, but this exposes it to vandals.

One thought though, the clutch lever on the right hand side - I had no issue getting my hand through the hole to the right of the rego plate as I have small hands.
I know some have rotated that gearbox to make access easier (the clutch lever would be at the front then, not on top).

Instead of taking a swag, i was thinking of taking the camper trailer, it has a large under bed area that I can fill with Disco2 TD5 hoses, belts, rotors, brakes, radiators etc etc, incase you break down and are in the poo.

Ps also has space of the viscous fan tools, just in case
Don't talk about tyres, I noticed my $300 plus Michellan cross lateral has a small cut in the sidewall, No this time I didn't run over a star picket in the garden bed.![]()
Hi, I'm just fitting one at the moment, I decided to mount the solenoids in the jack position by the battery box. Thoughts behind that were as follows,
Power lead to solenoid, long lead equals more chance of short, solenoids close to battery less to no chance of short, lead to motor is only live when winching.
I also had all the leads changed, I was not happy with the supplied ones, the long leads were far too long, = voltage loss, I also considered them too light, got new ones made by the local sparky, had to because of different lengths due to fitting solenoids away from the motor.
As a plus they are out of the wet and muddy environment.

Yes. There will be something like 16 long hex bolts holding it together. (you can see them in your picture on the right hand side of the winch) Undo them and twist the whole thing until the lever is where you want it. Simply put the bolts back in. The only possible issue i can see is there is probably a gasket that may end up breaking when you twist it. If it does break you would want to replace it with gasket gue of some description.
I did this with my Tabor winch. If you are not confident to do it yourself drop it off at work and i'll get it done for you in a couple of days. I was cleaning, re greasing and resealing it when i worked out how they come apart.
