RRC sold - were is the TD5 performance mod sticky?

Of course you should be able to.
But it depends on what you mean by tow uphill on a hot day.
If you mean stick one of those disgusting American style diesel pull sled thingies on the back and burn your way up the hill as fast as possible while 'rolling coal' like some sort of 8 toed inbred, then no.
However by the time I'm finished with my Td5 (which is NOT limited to a tune), I have no doubt I'll be able to tow the sorts of things that I want to tow up hill on a hot day at the speed limit and not be worried by it. Keeping in mind I'd be towing boats and car trailers (although I'll eventually use an isuzu for the latter), Caravans aren't really my thing :p

I like to be able to pick a gear, plant foot and let the engine do it safely without intervention. Essentially running maximum torque sustained for minutes at a time while keeping EGT safe.

I tune my isuzu so it can do that fine at lower altitudes, but gain 1000m and the mechanical pump can't account for that. Driving hills at altitude is no problem. But towing up hills at altitude is where I need to watch the EGT and back off.
I do however have a plans to fix that problem on several different diesels here.

Dont get me wrong but everytime something about td5inside remaps pops up you always post smething trying to make us look bad and to point out that we are cheating people.

There are a lot, and I mean a lot, things to change in a remap. There are also lots of diferent drivers with lots of diferent requests. In this you make map files according to their request and this will lead us to very diferent maps, some of them with no smoke at all, some of them with a lot.

Nevertheless, I´ve never made a map file wich I though was beyond safety for the use/maintainance and drive of a car. I do have some cars with extreme power, lot more smoke than reasanoble, but I know the use of the cars ( normaly competitions) and also what sort of maintainance they have.

In a td5 its possible to get arround 165/170hp with little or no smoke and with very low EGT. From that point, a bigger intercooler its advisable and with that you can get 10 to 15 more HP whitout EGTs going through the roof and whit a reasonable amount of exhausth smoke IMHO.

And yes, above that, the 190bhp mark with stock turbo its possible and the engine wont cook that easily !

Instead of just starting to through numbers and calculations and theorys to this conversation, please point at a calibrated 4x4 Dyno in Australia and we can put an healty td5 in it with my maps and prove this numbers - ( Or, just go to our facebook page, there are videos and sheets from td5 and td4 in the dyno there ) -

P.S. 1 - "I haven't stated that because I haven't done an exhaustive check of all commercially available tunes" - I hope you buy all the maps to the companies that make them availabale, otherwise you are just making copies from someonelses work;

P.S. 2 - "I was looking for an eco map (shut-down EGR, advance timing and raise torque limits with no extra fuel)" - add to that increased throttle sensitivity and you have one of the ECO maps from performanceinside, available for any Make/model :)

Nope. They are words of caution about the BS surrounding most remaps. There is nothing specific to yours at all.

I don't care about dyno numbers. Never have and never will. I care about A/F and EGT.

You promised some EGT numbers a year or so back. Got them yet?

By BS I´m sure you mean Bespoke Service or Best Service :) Although you were never one of our costumers, I´m sure all the positive reviews from our products all over the world lead you to that conclusion :)

Get the car in the dyno and measure HP and NM and then drive it and measure EGT´s! No problem for me ! I´ve done it overhere when testing solutions in our map files, so there is no reason for diferente results overthere.

Yep..one year ago, in a similar conversation, about td5inside remaps...so maybe its specific to ours afterall :)

But no, I have not made that measurements because:

1- My work and costumers are more important than proving you (not my costumer) that you are wrong;

2 - they have to be made with stock turbo ( the discussion was all about that) and I´ve been messing arround with VNT´s and with a special Hybrid turbo with diferent vanes in my car, so I dont have the stock turbo fitted!

The thread last year was about getting 500Nm worth of engine into a RRC. It was not in any way about you. But you made claims about safe EGT you haven't yet backed up.

EGT and A/F measurements do not care which turbo you have fitted.

It seems at this point you don't have EGT and A/F measurements because you've never done them.

This picture doesn't show any EGT probe.

But what it does show is woefully undersized and convoluted air intake piping. The pipe from air filter to turbo is bigger than the pipe feeding the air filter. It has at least 3 metres of small diameter piping and much of it corrugated.

So it's a safe bet you haven't measured air intake restriction either.

Just keep turning up the fuel boys.:eek: A K$N filter and sticker will fix everything.

What is turbo lag. I don't have any lag, nor do I make smoke.
I just have a standard TD5 which will go off the lights as well as nearly all newer cars if I wish to plant it. I don't see the point of spending all that money on something which goes so well already.
I have owned a lot of cars over the years and this thing is by far my favourite as far as driverbility goes.

That picture was not supposed to show any EGT :) Was supposed to show our VNT turbo !

Nevertheless I must say you should be a great Engenier, since you can see and measure pipes size in a computer screen or just by looking at them!!!

We did make calculations wich we also use to mess with maf values and fit something to keep them under the td5 limits !!! We are not that stupid :) we do use our time for our own calculations and to solve problems, and not for calculations for you :)

Please stop trying to say we are unconscious tuners and worst, that we dont know anything about what we are talking about. We have tuned hundreds of td5´s and thousands of other cars and never had complains about engines ruined because of our work.

P.S. - Sorry for late reply, like last year we were racing against the big ultra4 600+ bhp LS Cars... And guess what, we won the modified class again in that very own car that, according to you, should have cooked the engine ages ago :)
