So definitely no EGT measurement and no A/F either?
It's pretty simple to scale pipe sizes off other known components. This isn't rocket surgery. Hooking a race engine to a tiny snorkle through metres of small diameter pipe, much of it corrugated flex hose, is a terrible thing to do.
So you fitted a bigger MAF. Did you ever think to make all the other hoses at least as big as that bigger MAF and fit a bigger air cleaner too?
Absolutely. In some cultures more smoke = more power too.
Ohhh dear.... So definitely you know nothing about td5´s :) have you ever seen one of this engines live????
In the picture you "quote" from me, the pipe from the air filter to the turbo ( the one with the KN filter sticker) is exactly the same size as the standart one - just different materials to solve another problem wich is not performance related... the snorkel and the pipe that is coming to the air filter is exactly the same diameter as the hole in the air filter ( wich, if you have a td5, you would know is bigger than the flexible hose that is fitted as standart in the factory - those idiots at the Land Rover plant did not make any air intake restriction measurements - you should send them your résumé Dougal :)
In the original td5 MAF we did a dedicated Maff signal adjuster that will stop the high Maff voltage signal from tripping in the ecu by clamping its maximium output voltage...
If you knew the td5 engine and look again to the pictures you would see that in the second picture (not quoted by you) there is another engine with your sugested bigger air cleaner :) This has the advantage of letting us have 2 pipes/2 snorkels giving air to the air box and for that reason allowing us to have a bigger pipe from airbox to the turbo ( dont know if you ever heard of a through Cab / Rear Snorkel Kit).
So, ready to stop trying to say we know nothing about what we are doing?
P.S. - The KN sticker does not give you more power... it just tells the mechanics its a reusable filter if for one reason its another mechanic doing the cars mantainance.
That is exactly the problem.
You take the airfilter from a 90-100kw engine. You want to get 50% more power from it and you need more air. Hence you need bigger pipes and a bigger air filter.
I can assure you "those idiots at landrover" as you call them did take air intake restriction measurements. For the boost and airflow they intended the engine to run. Once you start modifying an engine you need to follow the path through and make sure everything else is suitable.
Not just crank up the fuel and hope for the best dyno reading.
Yeah I know that mod. Boy racers have also been doing it forever. It's a kludge to stop limp mode.
I thought from your description (and hoped) you had installed a bigger MAF which would read higher airflow for the same voltage and reprogrammed the ECU airflow tables.
Which one is your bigger air-cleaner?

or this one we can barely see?

Why are you not measuring EGT on these engines again? Do you ever measure EGT?

And here we go again....
Do you know a td5 air filter box??? Have you ever seen one?? Have you ever seen whats inside? If you have seen one, you will know wich is the one in the picture and wich one is bigger. You would also know that its possible to get more air with the stock air filter box making some small mods,!!!
And then there´s the compromise we have to achieve with race cars...If you ever build one like this ones you would also know that we have to fit shock absorber reservoirs, steering cooler, hidraulic steering oil reservoir, oil cooler, big winches, dual alternator, etc, etc, most of it under the hood!!
Dougal, we are not unconscious tuners... you have enough threads on this very own AULRO forum from costumers making EGT measurements wich state you are completly wrong :) Its better to have their readings than just mine, that I´m sure you would say that are fake, no matter what I do or show:)
Stop this slander and theorys...go out there and do it better and come here and prove us wrong. Get a td5, make your own map ( not just copy the ones you are colecting from td5 owners) measure EGTS and get it to a dyno. Share the results here with us so that we can see your theorys in the real world! Till then, you have nothing but googled sentences and theorys against thousand of tuned cars by performanceINSIDE and td5INSIDE, this meaning thousands of satisfied costumers and healthy cars.
No I don't know the TD5 airbox internals. I don't even have two pictures from you showing your airboxes yet. One just shows a corner and one clip. It does however appear to be this one:
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/im...2014/09/36.jpg
Which is an airbox that can flow more than the round version you've got installed on the other.
Like the MAF I was kind of hoping that the 300tdi sized round air cleaner going to the 300tdi sized snorkle was the original and you had a massive aftermarket one just hiding from the other photo.
But no. :(
By not using EGT or A/F measurements to check the safety of any of your tunes you are using the customers to do the actual testing and tuning.
You have proved nothing here. Just confirmed that your customers engines are guinea pigs.
You need to look up slander and theory. I am tuning my own diesels with EGT and A/F measurements. My results are validated.
I will continue to warn the public away from hacks who call themselves tuners and sell maps with extravagant power/torque claims and no EGT and A/F testing to back them up.
Whether you fit into that warning is entirely up to you.
Have you ever buy anything from us?? Do you know what sort of information and data we provide to our costumers when dealing with them?!! NO, you dont!!
So, again, stop this slander ! There are pics and videos of a lot of tests we make to our cars , including the EGT´s and AF measurements in our FB page, for example ...
Our costumers engines are not guinea pigs, theyr are only the proof that we do a good job!!
As for the rest, my answer to all your posts is now the one I gave you before:
Go out there and do it better and come here and prove us wrong. Get a td5, make your own map ( not just copy the ones you are colecting from td5 owners) measure EGTS and get it to a dyno. Share the results here with us so that we can see your theorys in the real world!
Enough.
No and there are very good reasons for that.
I haven't posted any slander. I post information and warnings to the public which have absolutely nothing to do with you.
This isn't facebook. If you have information you think is needed then you should post it here.
I have, I am and I do.
