8L of transmission fluid after service TD5 Auto

Just would like someone to confirm my numbers.

After replacing the T27 Torx screws holding the auto trans fluid filter with 4mm Hex screws, I proceeded to bolt the auto sump back on and fill with 8 liters of ATF while running the auto with transfer case in neutral. I stopped when the fluid started to...... come out the filler hole in large volumes.

Probably too much, 9.5 or so from dry, to change more than about 5 you need to muck about with the return line from the cooler. Its messy, my car port can attest to that after this weekend. It should be a dribble out of the hole, 3 to 5 mm.
I changed about 8 to 9 by using the cooler trick.
If it looks foamy, I'd let it sit for a bit and try again so you get the right level

Ditto, I've only managed 5L each time I've done it, which thankfully matches the amount that came out.

Interesting. The sump was left off overnight and I had an unknown qty of fluid to clean off the floor before continuing with the correct tools. Is it possible the other 3lts leaked out overnight with the assistance of gravity. There was a big mess on the floor after leaving it sit overnight.

    Yep.
I drained less than 2L out of mine after the cooler hose unscrewed itself, then put the sump on and left it for a couple of weeks.
Every time I've dropped the sump subsequently (still haven't filled it) there's been another sump full.

If it looks foamy, check the cooler lines haven't got a leak that is sucking air in and the swage fitting won't pop off in the middle of nowhere.

(Just in case someone is reading this I thought I'd make sure you know that foaming isn't a good sign)
