Less than 200.det c for no load idle.
As for 100kph that's a. Hairy kettle of fish with lots of variables.
I'd expect between 400.And 500 for a generic cruise vale with the ac on and about 50% load in the vehicle.
What egt temp should my td5 run at while at idle and at 100ks in 5th just need a rough idea thanks.![]()

Agree with Dave.
I get cold idle around 130C, warm idle between 170-190C depending how hard the engine was working.
If cruise EGT is too low it suggests either a measurement problem (probe in the wrong place, probe not long enough etc), you're running too much boost (turbo sized wrong/VNT set wrong) or load is extremely low (not in top gear or cruising very slowly).
If cruise EGT is too high it suggests load is too high, timing is retarded or boost is too low.
I have a remapped TD5 Defender with VNT
130-180 at idle
350-460 at 100 kmh dependent upon load and temperatures
Strong headwind might will likely see the 460
Fuel economy is best below 400
Thanks all this saas egt gauge jumps around madly I think I will pull it out and replace it with a different gauge. This gauge would show 700deg when the car not even running turn the car on and it jumps beyond 1300deg checked all wiring all is Good there. So I'm thinking may be a volt gauge can see the egt gauge becoming road kill.![]()
Could it be the calibration settings of the EGT gauge?
The EMS-2 that I have fitted to my Td5 (Auto) shows pretty similar figures to those above - no load/very light throttle at 100km/h is usually sub-300 degrees.
Flat road or beach, vehicle not really loaded (ie. no roofrack/awning, spacecases on top, etc) it hovers around the 400-450 mark.
Add headwind and even at 80km/h it'll be up toward 500 or so.
As mentioned above it can be considered a pseudo-economy gauge of sorts - you can see the EGTs rise very quickly as you try and maintain cruising speed up moderate or steep gradients. If I'm driving with economy in mind I'm able to keep the EGT down to 550 or so by easing off as you begin to lose momentum. I might go back to less than half-throttle to keep the EGTs under 600 and I'm still able to maintain 85km/h or so as you crest that hill. Sometimes it's better to force the downshift to unlock the TC too as the EGTs will skyrocket when the engine is labouring in too high a gear.
WRT the gauge calibration - I say this because the Madman EMS-2 I have is giving me weird readings from the boost sensor. I mucked about with the calibration the other day and now it's showing 'over-boost' more readily (and I know it's not overboosting).
Maybe there's scope to adjust your gauge somehow? Check the earth on the gauge if it has one wired to it.
I get under 200 at idle.(200 being the lowest my gauge can display) About 410 at 100km/h. That's with a stage 2 tune.

Being a cheap SAAS gauge, I doubt there is any provision to calibrate it.
None of them have a provision for calibration. But if you use the wrong lead, the wrong joining wires or the wrong connectors you will introduce errors.
After trying other cheaper gauges, I have a saas gauge now and it works perfectly. Temps are as described earlier. (Well, now that I have sorted my tune anyway!)
