Would you pay this much ?

    Hi all,

Would you pay $20K for a stock standard 2004 TD5 S automatic Disco with about 170,000 on the clock ?

It will slowly be built up as a family tourer so looking to hold onto it as long as possible, and can do most mechanicals myself

I know it boils down to what you want to spend etc and the state of the car, but do you think it's too much considering the age of these cars now.

The condition of the car seems neat and look after.

    Any feedback thoughts appreciated

    It all depends on;

    1 Do I have the $20gs

2 Does the vehicle have a good service history with a DEALER or an expert in Land Rovers, I believe this to be one of the most important points.

3 Check out the dealers to see what price they might have on similar vehicles.

4 The mileage seems good and low, mine is still going strong at over 400k.

Oh, and just make sure it has NOT been drowned in any floods in NSW or elsewhere as mine had.

If it is a good vehicle and the price, after checking around, is fair I'd buy it.
One advantage of a stock standard vehicle would be that you could expect that it hasn't been driven hard and/or off road much.

    Regards

    Mike

    No way

Kms seem good for age but not worth that $$$, given the age of the vehicle expect things need doing which will add to purchase cost. D3 are coming onto the market $25k. Your money your choice but even a well maintained D2 is just not worth that kinda dollars in my opinion, there are better deals out there on D2s, i know 03-04 models are harder to come by but be patient. Good luck

I agree with the last poster - no matter how good it is, that is too much. Having bought what seems to be a very good D2 recently (admittedly older) for less than half that, I would not expect even an exceptional example to go within two or three thousand of that figure.

    Not a chance.
For $20k I would want an 04 with <100k on the clock, fastidiously maintained, and I'd want it to be AT LEAST an ES for that money.
I'd want photos of it being garaged, with its own butler, fed nothing but premium synthetic oils on service intervals that are half the recommended ones.
    And I'd want it delivered.
    With brand new tyres.
And a bottle of Moet in the back.
Can you see where this is going?

Too much, mine went for $16k 8 months ago, with 105k on it.i could have maybe got $16.5k if i waited around longer, but it needed to go.
It was also an S,with bar and snorkel, perfect service records.

in a couple of years time, with a few more k's it will only be worth very low teens,at the most.

A D3 is another option, much nicer vehicle, but it will cost you a lot more for any repairs, and use more fuel.

Well I paid last May for my D2a td5 se 2003 auto with 150000km an full log book servicing an black leather interior for $20k down in brissy from a dealer with 4 years warranty. So far it's been an awesome rig except when we where coming home from our Uluru trip when the fuel return hose under the inlet manifold let go 100kms out of mt isa. But otherwise just the normal maintenance issues.

Sounds a little high if its from a dealer. I wouldnt be paying close to that if its private.
I bought my D2a for 17K a year ago from a dealer, just so I had the warranty. Which paid off as the auto box died in the first 1000kms and they had to have to repaired!
