Thread: ARB bulbar - LED indicators and park lights to suit

I bought a pair of those for the ECB bar on my D4 and would not recommend them due to the light characteristics.

Both the parker and the blinker are the same brightness and draw the same current therefore the same wattage, contrary to the advert. The parkers are too bright and the blinkers too dim and certainly are not nearly as bright as the original ECB blnkers. I subsequently disconnected the parkers to remove the distraction from the blinker as at least some of the D4's signature LEDs are visbile from any angle so b/bar parkers are not required.

I had a discusison with the importer Ashdown Ingram regarding the relative brightness and the obvious incorrect information regarding wattage.

I don't know if they fit the ARB bar. They are not a direct replacement for the ECB bar but are not advertised as such anyway. I will replace the lights when I find better ones but not at the price of the lights from ECB.

Edit: These days manufacturers or importers do not have to have ancilliary lights tested for meeting ADRs, being able to self assess. IMO these lights do not meet ADRs particularly due to the blinkers not being bright enough.

When I bought my secondhand Smart Bar the lights were toast.

I found the LED Autolamps 175AW are a direct fit into most bull bars.

Happy with mine.

ARB now sell their own LED lamp kits, part number 6821287.

This comes complete with a pair of LED indicator/clearance lamps, pair of mounting brackets, new waterproof harness, and all the required screws nuts and washers.

No issues with fitting to my D2a delux bar. Nice and bright, indicators and clearance, and no trailer warning light flashing when indicating.

I bet the arb parts are exy, ebay seller autoelecau sells led indicators for $34 the pair.

Yes there are cheaper options than the ARB ones, I paid about $85 for the ARB kit.

But having a quick look on the Autoelecau ebay page ( LED Front Indicator Park Clear Amber Light Lamp ARB TJM Bullbar Pair 2X 5290343 | eBay ) shows them to be the same make & model (but cheaper) as the ones in twr7cx's post. Which is then followed by a review by Graeme who would not recommend them for their poor lighting characteristics, which being they are lights is not great defect.

Due to the angle of the mountings on an ARB bar 'normal' Indi/clearance LEDs will put most of their light out to the side and not forward. The ARB LEDs are angled within the sealed housing to through their light forward.

I bought these from this seller who runs a large auto-electrical business. I challenged the advertised different wattages so he opened and tested many sets looking for ones with different wattages and brightness but found they were all the same, then immediately contacted the distributor who then contacted me straight away. The advert is misleading and the seller has known it for several weeks.

Given the specific nature of the application, the need to get lights plus appropriate wiring and fasteners etc...

The ARB ones are probably the way to go.

Now I have an ARB bar I might just get me some.....

I purchased one of these today for $85.00 at my local ARB (Kings Towbars and Trailers). The sticker price on the box was $99.00 and they keep them in stock. Sadly it's not just plug and play, the wiring connectors are different so I'll have to cut and solder tomorrow.
