    V8 torque converter into td5?

hi guys, i have recently acquired a 'medium' v8 torque converter that i want to use in my modded td5 and ditch the useless small one.
has anyone had any experience with modifying the torque converter mounts on the v8 tc to suit the td5 flex plate (4 bolt vs 3 bolt)?
i know ashcroft do it and do it well, but im not keen on paying hundreds in shipping.
Is it as simple as cutting mounts off one and welding to the other? Who would I go through to get it done?
I was also considering getting a spacer ring made up to convert the 4 bolt to 3 bolt and machining the spacer between the flywheel and flex plate down to suit
    TIA

That doesn't really answer my question, I can't find any information other than 'it has to be modified'

There was a thread just recently about a member who had a V8 modded on and it ended up being stuck in the crankshaft Boss of his TD5, he bought a TCE one, then for some reason TRS had to machine the TC input down and it was all an unhappy experience.
