It's the EGR modulator... completely useless now, u can get rid of it just clog the vacuum supply make sure the plug doesnt get short to earth cos it will blow fuse F2 which is feed for MAF and wastegate modulator too
On my 03 Td5 Disco I have removed my EGR. There was a vacuum line which ran back to a block(I would describe this as a vacuum manifold) between the coolant overflow bottle and the brake booster. This was disconnected and blanked off.
I was under the bonnet today and having a look at this vacuum manifold. What purpose does this thing now serve.
There is a vacuum supply to it from a tee off the line to the brake booster.
This manifold has two switches in it and has two vacuum lines coming out of it.
These two lines then join in a larger line which runs around the top of the radiator and into the top of the air filter box.
Now that I no longer have egr, does any of this above mentioned stuff have a purpose or is it more useless crap that I can now get rid of?

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

So ecu won't notice the plugs disconnected from the solenoids and log a fault?

It will log the "EGR stuck closed" code with the modulator unplugged or with it in place as long as the valve is bypassed

that's strange... and IMO not normal, is yours remapped?

Useless crap, get rid of it![]()
I found a .22 shell in a small piece of vac tube was a perfect plug on the airbox lid...
If you get a remap at some point, you can specify a base map from places like South Africa which never had EGRs so you'll stop getting the EGR fault.
Tombie. We are talking about the electronic solenoids, not the EGR intself.
So if they are removed this leaves two plugs that would be open circuit.
So the ECU would be able to tell. Whether or not it does is what we are discussing.

No it shouldn't... Because it doesn't look
It just sends a signal - it doesn't look at the result.
