However the gap in a twin tube means that a dent will usually not impinge on the inner tube. Even a tiny dent will kill a Billy as it causes the piston to jam, as I can attest to.

Thats what I'm saying, something that dents a twin shell just scratches the paint on a Bilstein. When I've run twin and triple shell shocks the body has always been smashed up by rocks but after probably 10 years on Bilsteins they've never had more than scratching. If you've taken out a Bilstein, then you will have taken out any shock, the body strength isn't the same.

Bilstein 7100s wit. 400/80 valving on the rear.

I run bilys on my car d2a with sls and ace uprated kings on the front to compensate for bull bar and winch no problem very comfortable ride

I have RS 9000 adjustables all round. I like how i can adjust them for towing and other stuff.
Yes, its a lot of $$$ only to find unadjustable shocks are terrible,

Our indy mobile mech for over 20yrs swears by and recommends the Monroe Gas Magnum series for nearly every car he services.

He claims to have never heard a complaint from hundreds of customers he's fitted them to and gave me a serve when I fitted All Terrains to my D2.

I think they may be foreign manufactured now as the factory in Adelaide closed a few years ago.....but that means nothing.

Most of the lower priced brands of shocks and even some higher priced 1s you will find are made in Mexico to the specs of whatever company is doing the ordering, Monroe,Rancho, TJM, some types of ARB Nearly all the USA brands are. China is just hitting it straps regarding the shockie aftermarket, ie Terrafirma.
It is very hard to find where the shock is made sometimes. But it does come down to "ya get what ya pay for!", well most of the time :D

+1 for Bilsteins and Kings springs on my V8 with 8 inch wheels it handles and rides well.

If it were possible to get a set of 4 FOX remote reservoir adjustable shocks specifically valved and made to bolt into the D2 at a price between $2K and $2.2K would anyone consider it?

You can go down the tried and tested Bilstein 7100 Remote Res path for about Half that cost, and without the added headache and guesswork of working out the correct Fox valving requirements.

Actually, doesnt "That Kid" run Fox's on his D2? He'd be able to give U an idea on valving, although im sure hes spring all round.
