I would try Graeme Cooper or Bruce Davis who would know of someone as no doubt they would have done a few.

You could try all 4X4 at Kotara but some posts have indicated relatively expensive with other engine quotes.

I know Graeme had slipped liner problems with stroked 3.5s 20 years ago , which caused him to stop doing them, so Ward will have some experience.

If you have no compression, you need to find out what the issue is first - a slipped liner will not normally be the direct cause of low compression. For sure seized rings/pistons in a liner can be the worst case scenario but could be as simple as a blown headgasket.

You need to get the heads off and see whats what.

As far as engine building goes - any competent engine builder could do what you need.

If that were the deciding factor no one would keep and maintain d2 or similar aged 4wd's in other brands. I have happily spent WAY more in the last 2 years on my truck than its market value. I am about to spend a heap more...but would rather plough it in to my favourite off roader than spend more on a newer model.

As said above top hatted or stepped liners are different to stock - effectively they are trapped and cannot move. They also fully seal even if there is a fissure in the casting. The liner material and good rings mean that, subject to a leaking injector like in my case, the bores just don't wear out till very high kilometres.

    Cheers

Im hoping its just head gaskets. The engine turns over so no seized pistons.

Not really not wanting to be a doom and gloomer but they may well have seized if over heated and the force of the engine turning unlocked them - broken rings etc.

As said the heads need to come off.

    Good luck with it.

like Gary said above ,,, an autopsy is the only way to find out (well may be not those precise words, but the heads need to come off)

    Turners do the best tophats,
either buy the tophats and fit,,
or preferably get a genuine 4.6 from them with the liners already fitted,, just add your heads.
