I guess it makes sense that the car would lean more while cornering. It does have more mass higher up now. If you run 265 75 16 size tires you have effectively raised the height by 3.5'' from standard. And as you say with a loaded roof rack you could really feel it. The standard sway bars are pretty large so they would help a bit. Also would be worth checking the bushes in them for movement too, this could contribute to the lean sensation you feel.
But all in all i'd expect all those side effects after fitting a 2'' lift. I guess the question would be why does one fit a lift in the first place? Mostly to improve the off road capability when 4WDing, not to improve around town driving. For that exact reason it doesn't seem like a wise investment to fit a lift kit if you don't intend to go off road. You can't have it both ways.
I believe the D2 is restricted to 50 Kg on the roof, in any case. With a full load, [ perhaps even overloaded] 5 adults, camping gear etc, my D2 with 6 year old shocks is not a good drive. With 2 up, not so much weight, just ok. I believe the correct spring rate, for the vehicle's projected weight, is the secret. For what we intend to use the vehicle for, I'm thinking I can tolerate a little tenderness, if it behaves fully loaded. The nitro max is marketed as big bore truck technology, robust & comfortable. Supposed to be good over corrugations, not overheating easily. Supposedly. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
