If you now have the vehicle going I would suggest that you get your EKA ASAP.

Once you have this you can then override future, or this one if it comes back, problems to be able to at least access and start your car.

sierrafery, your input to this forum is great, as you are bringing info from what you learn on your USA forum, although I would suspect your Td5 knowledge would be limited.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

As long as you can unlock it with fob it's ok cos the alarm will be disarmed this way, it seems that the BCU was in "sleep" mode if you woke it up by locking with the key, you can buy new fob from main dealer or some online store and used ones used to be at breakers or ebay... that low action range of the fob can be caused by the roof receiver too if it will be tyhe same with new fob too.

If I need a new fob where would I source one?

    Thanks,
    Shaun.[/QUOTE]

Shaun, there are a number of avenues to go down to find a fob, but the one that worked for me was...go to "links ", at the top of the page, then dealers, "internet based ", then " international", open that site, scroll down to "remote key fob replacement" Click on view site, and you get this

Cheaper than local dealers, but that was when the dollar was higher. Bob

Sorry to change the topic my central locking will only unlock the 3 passenger doors and not the drivers door I have to unlock the drivers door with my key. The remote will lock all doors including the drivers door. The remote used to unlock/lock all 4 doors.

For you there is a simple fix: replace the driver's door latch actuator

One thing to mention. The remote doesn't have to be LR. Lots of other Rover products have the same fob, only without LR written on it.
I got one from the US from a guy who had bought it for an MG which he no longer had.
I just had to check the blade would fit and the fob was the correct frequency. $55 posted.
Any non dealer specialist should program it for you. My guy in Melb did it free while he had the car for something else.
Don't buy a Chinese one. I got two, neither of which worked.

Thanks everyone It seems to have resolved itself now. I put the recommended 2032 battery in the key rather then the 2016 that was in there and all seems to be working fine now.
I will definitely get the EKA invade it happens again.
