Yeah. And then whoever finds the key (if the blade only is lost) can unlock and drive away.

Nah. Maybe car theft isn't an issue in your part of the world. For me the D2 is one of the most secure cars around. No button. No key. No access or start. Even with the windows down the inside button won't unlock and neither will anything else.

The locksmith can cut the key, some machines work directly off a web link though and you cannot enter the code from LR. So you cough up over $100- for it (voice of experience) and the machine cuts automatically to the received code thats access through LR database by the locksmith. They also don't have blade keys so you'll end up with a std key type.

Recoding EKA's, reprogramming FOB's etc is easy. There's a thread of people with diagnostic devices and locations so you can contact them and arrange something in your part of the world.

Everything that LR have said is just scaremongering and trying to justify existence and make $$$.

Please read again my post with the recommendation sir... do you know how the passive immobiliser works?... the only risk with this setting(which is an option by factory not some bodge) is that somebody can unlock with a fake key as to open the door switch too(so gently with the latch) and pills some goods which are in the car at that moment...so the choice is between this possibility or the risk to be immobilised in the middle of nowhere due to a roof receiver or fob failure, that's all, and as i said it's a matter of personal choice that's why that option is a built in feature

Geez never stops does it. Car is now open at least BUT... the belt isn't there. Gone. Been trying to get a replacement but no one seems to be able to verify which one it is.

Bought a 7PK2250 however too short. Made heaps of phone calls and were given all sorts of data but different. Even range the LR dealers in Brissy, but they don't give a size just a code for the vehicle off VIN.

Can anyone assist with what actual size it is? I checked out that other thread about changing them but they didn't mention which one they used.

Depends on the accessories you have.

    There's 4 variants in Aust.
    Nil A/c or ACE
    A/c, nil ACE
    ACE, nil A/c
    A/c and ACE

And they all thread differently, I have a previous thread with a pic of all the patterns.

By memory the A/c & ACE is 7PK2245

    It is A/c, nil ACE

I have a pic how it threads, but have just got off the the phone to British Off Road and they say it's a 7PK2343.
