Thread: Lost keys. Looking for some assistance please

without the key with the original transmitter in it i think you are stuck - it wont start without the code. Call Land Rover and have your vin number handy - they will be able to tell you whats required, but i suspect they will hit you up for some big $ for a new recoded key. Sorry not much help i know, but i dont think there is any other option other than LR

Thanks for the reply CaptainJack. I just got off the phone to the LR dealers and they have record of the car and are now looking at what options there are. Mind you no mention of price yet. But says I will have to get new barrels for doors and ignition and get them fitted to gain access to the car, but won't start the car. They are going to get back to me once they work out what systems are on the car for full key replacement.

Goodness knows how much it will cost to transport the vehicle when it can't be driven onto the truck, let alone get it Brisbane over 500ks.

Will update as I find out more.

Seems like the cost is going to be more than the car is worth.

Ive only got one key for mine, and youve just made me even more paranoid about loosing it

I am kind of hopeful that there is an easier fix to the problem. Like once I can get in, then somehow demobilze the immobilizer or something if that's whats there. Maybe a good autoelectrician... I know, grasping at straws.

Land Rover will be able to supply you with the key cut code. Take this to a decent locksmith & they'll be able to cut you a blank key.


You can then enter the EKA (Emergency Key Acess) code to get past the immobiliser. If you don't have the EKA code, LR will have that on their system too.




Once you have this sorted out, search for a new 433MHz remote/key (UK supplier would be cheaper than LR Aust) & have it programmed with a Nanocom or similar.

I would have thought that the cheapest approach may be to get a new blade cut to the code, and buy a fob with ECU code on the circuit board from a wrecker.

EKA the door, turn on ignition with key, and have connected to Nanocom to insert the correct code into the ECU read from number on the circuit board of the key. You will have to be sure the number on the piece of paper glued to the circuit board is readable

The blade just pushes into the key fob so any key blade will fit in any fob.

I am not sure that the Nanocom will read the ECU using that method.

Anyone know?

Just trying to get my head around this. Guess best to get the blank key first, if LR will give me the codes I need. Then sort out someone who does that sort of coding (that seems challenging living in a regional area) Then get remote/key from the UK.
