Thread: Few questions -please help

G'day chev,

Just happen to have the RAV CD in my work computer in front of me.

1.Can somebody advise what is the torque setting for upper intake manifold bolts? Is it 18 pounds?

A. Upper intake = 22Nm (16lbf.ft)

Is that for all upper intake manifold bolts? Including the 4 that hold the plenum to the manifold?

A. Yes and there are 6 bolts holding the upper to the lower manifold on a THOR

I understand that valve covers are 6 pounds.

A. Stage 1 = 3Nm (2.5lbf.ft) Stage 2 = 8Nm (6lbf.ft) (you don't normally have a torque wrench that goes that low so just firm)

2.When changing valve covers is any sealant required?

A. Fit rubber gaskets dry

I cannot see any after removing the rubber gaskets.

(The specs above are for a V8. I just jumped to that conclusion as I didn't think TD5s has an upper intake manifold or valve covers plural)
