Tell him to rustle up a metre or so of old hose and use it as a stethoscope and nail down the location. Garden hose or heater hose is fine. He should be able to get it to the nearest inch location wise.
Evening all. A mate out in the bush has a high pitched whisle in his disco2 v8 I haven't got time to get out and have a look its only at operating temperature and worse when backing off the throttle. Sounds like an air leak to me and after some googleing seems the iac can cause this issue. Any one else had this problem? Don't want to tell this bloke to jump in and change it with out being pretty sure.

Cheers mate ripper idea.
I had a whistle for about a year. Couldnt really track it. Tried vac hoses etc. Turned out to be blown head gasket.
Cheers
spray some aroestart around the vac lines while its running using a directed nozzle that will nail down the leak faster.
