Front leather electric seat repair questions
I've removed my front passenger seat to open it up and hopefully repair a few of the faults.
I have removed the seat base from the frame, but the leather cover is still secured to the seat base foam by some small metal ringlets - any tips for the separation of these or just stretch them open with a pair of long nose pliars?
I believe that my recline motor is faulty. The 40amp fuse has been blowing when the electrics are used to adjust the seat. Some testing indicates that it is when the seat back is reclined. I can see that there are three motors on the seat base but these do not look like they adjust the seats recline. Am I right in assuming that I need to remove the cover from the seat back in order to access a fourth motor that performs this function?
Is there any way to test the functionality of the seat heater elements individually? I have read that they operate in series and if one fails neither functions?

Cause of the recline issue resolved - http://www.aulro.com/afvb/showthread...33#post2358933
Still not sure on how to test the seat heaters though...

I am still problem solving the seat heater fault.
I have tested power - i.e. when the seat heater button is engaged power goes from the vehicle to the seat wiring loom.
I have checked the continuity of the heating elements - both are complete with no breaks in the wire. I have checked the resistance - 0.9 Ohm for the back and 1.5 Ohm for the base.
There is a potential issue in that the power input goes through the module - basically I have no continuity between the OW orange/white input wire into the AWR5160 module and the K pink wire output.
Testing the pins on the module indicates this is where the circuit breaks.
I know that the module is controlled by the thermostat switch which is part of the heater element for the seat base. Anyone aware of how this works? It's not on the circuit diagram in Rave - it inconveniently skips over the thermo sensor and module!
So what I am unsure of is whether the issue lies with the module or the thermosensor in the heater element.
