Question Replacement front seat base heater elements

Anyone know the difference between the two part numbers for the base heater element? Microcat lists AWR3418 to (V)3A824320 and HGT500040 from (V)3A824321. But some parts suppliers are advising that AWR3418 has been superseded by HGT500040?

It looks to me like HGT500040 has two wiring looms and so is not a straight replacement for AWR3418.

IIRC from your other thread with the fuse your seats are electric so there might be a confusion, AFAIK there's no physical difference between the AWR and HGT parts(only superseded) but HGT500040(AWR3418) is for non-electic seat and it has two looms cos one connector is to the power socket and the other connects to the squab while HGT500020(AWR5156) is for electric seat with one connector cos on electric seats each element is connected to the seat's wiring not one to another so one connector only... what i say it's based on my microcat and the diagrams also i know that when i replaced mine(manual) it was connected as i said though i didnt work on a electric seat myself
    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned

You are correct, I have been looking up the incorrect parts. HGT500020 has a single wiring loom and looks like an appropriate replacement.

    Fairly straight forward:
    1. philips screw driver to remove five screws from the shroud around the seat base and side of the seat.
    2. You'll need Torx E socket to undo the four bolts securing the seat frame to the vehicle and a 17mm for the one with the nut underneath the vehicle.
Also disconnect the seat belt from the seat by prying off the black plastic cover and 17mm socket.
    3. Tilt seat forward and disconnect wiring loom plugs.
    4. Remove seat from vehicle.
    5. Pry/wiggle/pull/lever the four sides of the seat cover off - a flat blade screwdriver was good for this (I glued these back on as the stitching was getting old and broken in places). To get to the back one you have to first remove the seat backing clip as it's underneath and there are two clips either side.
    6. Disconnect base heater element wire connector.
    7. Push/wiggle/force the seat base back through and remove.
    8. Two pairs of long nose pliars deals with the hog rings easy enough.
    9. Peel the heater element off.
    10. Reverse to reinstall. 45nm for the seat base bolts and 32nm for the seatbelt.

It's not hard but does take a while due to the fiddly ness.
