For what it's worth i have a 48" and is more than adequate for a disco, 60" is a big unit, unless you want the little bit more travel if your using it as a winch I wouldn't bother,
cheers

I vote tirfor instead.
48 inch should be fine.
I also have a 48 inch with a 2inch lift and its tons. A 60 would just be more of a pain in the ass to transport.
It is just my personal opinion, but high lift jacks are dangerous. It is easy to have your car fall off the jack, in a very uncontrolled way, causing potential damage to your car and bystanders.
However they are able to be utilized as manual winches, which is a good thing. Lets not leave out they look great hanging off a roof rack next to your shovel.
I'm also heading up the Cape in 5 weeks. Instead of purchasing a high lift jack I bought this totally alloy trolley jack. It is much safer and does not require perfectly flat ground to be effective. I'm pretty sure it has 75mm lift. I'll probably have a sheet / plate of metal or aluminium I can put under the car for the jack to roll on if required.
As I said it is just my opinion but high lift jacks are unsafe. But if you have you're mind set on one, the 48" should be ample.

A few people I have asked about the Cape York trips that have actually done it told me It's like the Gibb River Road, heaps of traffic, no longer the "last frontier". So you don't need to be totally self sufficient and rely on your own skills. Some one is just around the corner to lend a hand if you do get into trouble .
Some people tend to travel overloaded with all the lastest gizmos and bling that isn't really necessary.
But having said that I personally haven't been so only going on what I am told.
I've had a 48 for years and never even used it except for working on the beast in the garage. In fact I don't really know many people who have actually needed it for it's intended purpose. And yes, they are dangerous. Had a Jillaroo get a broken jaw from the handle swinging.

And neither have most of the people that carry the jack outside the vehicle. A few hundred kilometres of outback travel and that jack would be so clogged up with dust ,spray, mud and insects as to be useless and dangerous to use. I've carried one around with me ,nicely wrapped up in oily cloth (inside the vehicle) for the last 13 years but only ever used it for fencing ,spreading and pulling. .W.
Scored an unused second hand one 48 inch and $60. its a handy just in case. I wil carry a good Can of brake cleaner and give it a good clean if I need to use it. I'l then need to Lube it after a break clean spray. with Inox do the job?
Cheers
