When the chip results in you needing to drive slower, than with a standard tune, then it becomes a bit pointless IMO...

Thats B.S, TRS is far from Black & Gold
TRS chip, is a proven safe all round chip, maybe off the shelf but it works.
if I wanted a race car I'd buy a V8, not a little 2.5 diesel
But hey if you have plenty of $$ to play with maps & maybe engines,
thats up to the individual
As with all things, YMMV
However, a tune that is specifically tailored and adjusted to your needs, conditions, and vehicle is less likely to result in engine damage than a one size fits all approach.

No ... not slower!
What I should've written was that I don't drive the car flat-out foot to the floor anymore because I simply don't need too. It's a cheap, tried and tested answer to mj2620's problem.
This is exactly the reason why I seldom respond to threads. People ask for help, you provide a possible solution and you then get torn to pieces by egotistical :censored: elitists with nothing better to do. As a member of this forum I should be able to make a post without fear of being ridiculed with narcissistic behavior.
Rant over.
Reading this thread. Who exactly has the Ego?
No issues? Narcissistic?
You said - mines fine, no issues..
Someone asked for more details..
It's well known the mapping in those ECUs is very peaky.. And has caused a problem as mentioned above...
Bloody hell.. Calm the heck down...
The OP now has some things to consider...
I think you've misunderstood.
MR LR is talking about the tune in his vehicle, not yours.
Out of interest, which IC are you running? D2a? Allisport? Pre turbo or post turbo egt gauge? what sort of temps do you see?
If you've got a problem with something, report it. However given the harsh conditions we experience in Australia and the severe damage a poor tune can do to an engine, it's the sort of discussion that needs to happen. Nothing egotistical about it, and no one is doing any shredding. No one is jumping up and down going 'my tune is better than yours nya nya nyanya nya', we're simply offering alternative options and providing evidence as to why we feel there are better options out there.

It's my understanding that the Davis chip is very peaky. I'm with the other people in this thread who have actually used the TRS option. It's not peaky and I've had it in my vehicle for 8 years with no issues...even when driving sand dunes on hot days. It's a particularly good change-over option for people like myself with early D2s. It's a reasonably conservative chip for those looking for a 20-30% boost in power for more driveability rather than 40-50% boosts for burning people off at the lights ;)
I don't know whether TRS has used the same map over the last 10 years or so...all I know is that mine, fitted in 2007, has excellent mid-range and isn't 'peaky'...
It's literally impossible to get a straight story out of Adelaide, so who knows.
