The TD5/BCU/gearbox/ECU's set all lockup speeds,, regardless of mechanical parts.
should be all plug and play though,,

I have a V8 torque converter & i would like to install in my 2000 TD5. What is the main benefit other different stall speeds. i tow a 2.9 ton caravan. i have a V8 auto ready to go in. Just had to swap over the output shaft.

I hear the V8 is pretty low for a TD5 and you need heaps of power to get the power where you need it, hence getting a modded V8 TC which I believe has a higher stall speed, bit lower than stock TD5. With mine I now have way less engine spin and I can really feel my motor pushing me along, it labours on hills opposed to kicking back and screaming its butt off.
Of course the other side of that is the heat from loading the turbo,,![]()

Yeah i think thats part of the mod. Ashcroft advised that the V8 are 2250 rpm but not sure if that was the modded spec. Im sure mine is set to around 2400 rpm. If it were any lower id need to move up to a stage 3 remap to push along without struggling. But ill say this, the LR feels normal now and picks up speed so easy. Happy to offer test drives if you happen to be in Ballarat but only if i get to try yours![]()
