D2 rear LHS bin support frame for 2nd battery

Howdy. I've seen a few posts on a 2nd battery being located in the rear bins, but don't ever recall anything on whether any weight support bracing is required or recommended (or any pics of bracing)?
    Anyone?

    Hi Gavin,

This is how I did it - still going strong after a 9 month lap and 4 years later:

    1. Remove completely the surrounding trim including the bin ( described in rave)
    2. Cut the carpet as shown in my pic here: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...ng#post1495890
    3. In the photo you'll see where I have cut out sections of the carpet underlay foam underneath where the bin sits and replaced with some wood strips to take the weight of the 38kg battery.
    4. Put the trim back in place except for the bin front.
    5. Mark and drill holes for your battery tie down system ( I modified a supercheap one to suit going lengthwise
    6. I placed some high density rubber in the bin itself for the battery to sit on. Then. Secure the tie down bar etc.

So the battery sits on thinish rubber inside the bin, and the bins/battery weight is taken by the wood onto the car body.

I then made a wooden lid that sits on some thick rubber stopper things on top of the battery so that the top 1/3 of the bin is for storage.
    Cheers

    Simon
