    Its easy , you can take off and use a hammer drill and smash the centre out ,,,have done many ,,,
    Get all the middle (rock ) out and let it breath ,
    or cut the seam and re weld ,,
    the heat savings alone are worth it

    Get it replaced with a high flow one if you're concerned about legality.
    If it fixes the issue its all good, if it doesn't you get an improvement anyway.
